About What Is My Chinese Zodiac

What Is My Chinese Zodiac (whatismychinesezodiac.org) is a free site for looking up Chinese zodiac signs. The sign finder takes a full birthday, the year table lists every zodiac year from 1924 to 2043, and the compatibility page compares any two signs.

How the answers are worked out

Each zodiac year starts on Lunar New Year. We use the date of Lunar New Year in China for every year from 1923 to 2044, taken from the Chinese lunar calendar and checked year by year in our tests. A birthday before that date belongs to the previous year's animal. Elements follow the last digit of the zodiac year, and compatibility follows the traditional six harmony, three harmony, clash and harm pairs.

What we keep

The sign finder runs in your browser. Your birthday is not sent to us or stored anywhere.

How the site is paid for

The site is free to use. It shows ads from Google AdSense in clearly labelled blocks, away from the tools' buttons and results. How ads use cookies is explained in the privacy policy.
